Our Baby Unit provides a wide range of activities suited to the younger child. Activities are carefully planned to offer a range of sensory experiences for young babies, and they have time each day for singing and music, creative and free play. We also offer baby signing which may enable your child to communicate long before they can speak.
Our staff are trained in the Early Years Foundation Stage, and fully understand that very young children need regular interaction with consistent, caring and dependable adults in order to feel secure and to begin exploring the world around them. Our aim is to fit in with your baby's routine and we will follow their feeding and sleeping patterns, rather than expecting baby to follow a set nursery routine.
Tiddler Unit (18 months – 30 months)
This is the area where your child makes the transition from babyhood to toddlerhood. The Birth to Three framework is again in operation with emphasis on social and communication skills together with opportunities to learn new skills, be creative and enjoy being part of a group. A wide range of activities are provided each day which initiate a sense of wonder, curiosity and excitement and allow children to gain confidence in approaching new experiences. The children have access to a dedicated playroom, art room and garden area. Children participate in a lively sing-song each morning with the older children. Children are given opportunities to rest throughout the day as required.
Toddler Unit (2½ years – 5 years)
The Toddler unit children are offered pre-school education through a variety of free play and structured play opportunities. Our three and four year old children follow the Early Years Foundation Stage, which is led by a qualified teacher (and EYP). The sessions are well planned and resourced, providing a wide range of experiences for children with a secure base for future learning. Children in our Toddler unit have access to a large playroom and art room plus an outside play area.
We have a large team of staff which enables the children to choose their own activities or work in small groups depending on age and ability. All the children are brought together for discussions and singing, lunchtimes and for other activities such as story-time and puppet shows. The children have an opportunity to mix with different age groups, enabling them to develop their communication and social skills.
Children develop at different rates and the nursery team understands this and takes into account the child’s abilities when planning activities and experiences.
Our Toddlers enjoy participating in our weekly dance class and language classes twice a week.
